A successful sample is the beginning of a scale-up discussion, not proof that a commercial batch will behave identically. Manufacturing route, purification, analytical method and packaging may require adjustment as quantity grows.
Use staged decisions
First confirm identity and test methods on the evaluation sample. A pilot batch can then help assess yield, impurity profile, process robustness and documentation needs. Commercial planning should use the results of those stages and a written target specification.
Keep acceptance criteria stable
Record which attributes must remain within agreed limits and which process parameters may change. Request batch records and COA scope appropriate to the order. If a result deviates, resolve it before shipment or acceptance rather than relying on a prior sample.
